The cave, is full of stalactites, and stalagmites, underwater waterfalls and lakes, crystals, ponds and interesting shapes. The cave was discovered only in the 1990, and it has been featured in top European speleological magazines. It is a trip that you will remember. There is no need for previous experience, not recommended for anybody who may have claustrophobic feelings.
You will meet your guide at the visitor center next to Pecka Patrijarsija, just outside the City of Peja/Pec. With their transport you will be going to the entrance of the cave which is some 10 kilometers from the meeting point. From the parking spot you will walk for 10 minutes to come to the entrance of the cave, there you will be briefed about the trip and equipment.
The whole cave has not been explored yet, and the section that you will be visiting has been carefully selected to offer manageable access for outdoor lovers without speleological, expertise.
The beginning of the trip takes you through the narrowest corridor of the whole trip, which will accommodate everybody as the rest will be more spacey and much more beautiful.
You will be walking through different paths to reach a underground waterfall, which is supposed to be coming from the mountain above which is 700 meters above the level of the cave.
The Great Canyon Cave is also quite unique in its structure as it goes up while it enters the mountain.
On your way back you will take the same way, to reach the exit and have a nice late lunch somewhere in the city, on in one of the restaurants in the mountain.
