Why take this tour?

Excursion to discover the "culture of the forest", in the heart of Sabina, the legendary land that was "mother" of Rome. We will go into the life and the incredible culture of the Charcoal burners. Walking through the trees of the Mediterranean forest, the first impression is that of going through any forest, but with careful observation and storytelling, you will feel increasingly involved and surprised by this wooded landscape, with pitches and with still black soil coal and other traces imprinted on the ground and in the memory of the place. We will recognize the plants on our way, which the charcoal burners knew well as food or medicine, We will visit a rock hermitage and the geological wonders of this territory: the karst chasm, pregnant with popular legends and which, more pragmatically, were natural bastions for the defense of Villages and castles perched.

What’s included?

  • A packed lunch will be provided, with typical Sabina ingredients, coming from natural agriculture
