Get picked up at your Cape Town hotel or other accommodation by your private guide and head out of the city in a comfortable minivan. Stop briefly at a farm stall to browse and pick up provisions, and then continue to the West Coast National Park.
Choose to hike through the park on the Bakoor trail, or to stay in the car for a drive along the scenic routes. The Bakoor trail offers you great views of the Langebaan Lagoon and through the Seeberg View Point, which is an especially good place to see some of the park's more rare birds—like the Curlow Sandpiper, Sanderling, and Knot. You can also choose instead to embark on the Geelbek trail that leads all the way to the beach.
Whatever you choose, you have ample time to enjoy the West Coast National Park, a birder's paradise that is awash in colorful wildflowers during the spring (August-September). The area is gorgeous year-round, too, and you may see springbok, bontebok, eland, ostrich, and tortoises in the wild.
Stop for lunch (optional extra) either inside the park at the Geelbek restaurant in a restored Cape Dutch building, or in the nearby seaside town of Langebaan at Pearly's restaurant. The Geelbek restaurant offers a selection of local specialties, while Pearly's is focused on seafood, along with pasta and pizza.
On the way back to Cape Town, take a break at Blouberg Beach for sundowners with an incredible view of Table Mountain.
