Begin your day trip by climbing aboard an air-conditioned minivan in Cape Town. Your private guide for the day takes you along one of the country’s most scenic coastal drives—Chapman’s Peak Road—which you can enjoy from the comfort of the passenger seat. The road winds along a mountain, ocean waves pummeling the rocks below.
The first stop on your tour is the Cape of Good Hope Reserve. This expansive park is within the borders of Table Mountain National Park, and you’ll get out to explore on foot with your guide for a bit. Walk to the Cape Point lighthouse where you can see the ocean beating on the rocks again. Be on the lookout for wildlife, including antelope, ostrich, and lizards.
Back in the minivan, begin to make your way toward the Constantia Valley wine region, passing beautiful beach towns like Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek, and historic towns like Simon’s Town and St James. Make a brief detour at Boulders Beach, where a colony of African penguins makes their home. Head into the penguin reserve (own expense) to walk down the boardwalk all the way to the beach, or simply stroll the public walkways near the reserve to see the amusing birds.
The final stop of the day is at Groot Constantia winery, established in 1685. See the historic estate during a guided group tour, followed by a wine tasting session. Return by minivan to Cape Town with your guide.
