Florence hop on, hop off bus tour
We were visiting Florence as part of our honeymoon. Although we have been to the city before we thought it would be good to do the bus tour. Having caught the train into Florence we walked to the neared pick up point at about 10.10 am. This is where it all went badly wrong. There was a very long queue, two staff who were handing out maps and told us to join the queue. It soon became evident that many people had been waiting a long time. On checking the app, we could see there were only two buses, the first one came after about 20 minutes and was almost full, so only let on a handful of people. We were then told, after asking one of the staff when the next one would be, “it could be about 20 minutes” . They gave us a number for our place in the queue and told us to go for a coffee! We did and came back about 20 minutes later, and waited, and waited …….. . In total it took another 45 minutes for the bus to appear. Then only about two thirds of the queue was able to get on. The staff were great and did their best, but for a city the size of Florence, they need at least four buses, and DO NOT on their website state the buses will be along every 35 minutes, as they aren’t. Maybe it got better as the day went on, we later picked up the bus in the city centre, and waited about 25 minutes and the tour was very good, pointing out places of interest. However, they don’t seem to be geared up for the number of visitors. I dread to think what it would be like in July and August!! I would think twice before booking this again.

It’s a good way to start your time in Florence and get a lay of the land :) We used it to get to a few sites and saved some steps .
Couldn’t wait to get off the bus
The pre-recorded message was not informative. We learned little to nothing on the tour and we definitely not take it again.
Crowded
It gets very crowded in the afternoon. We were confused about the various stops and what we could see. We would suggest a trip along the entire route and then decide what to see.
