Your tour begins with pickup from your central Cuenca hotel in time for an 8am departure. Traveling in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle, set out on the around 30-minute journey to the Cajas National Park.
Begin your hike at the Cucheros Lagoon, at 12,959 feet (3,950 meters) above sea level, and set out on an around 40-minute uphill walk to Cuchilla at 13,156 feet (4,010 meters). After taking in the views, which span the entire Burine Valley, continue exploring, passing natural wonders such as the Burin Grande, Burin Chico, and Ingañam lagoons. Continue to the Mamamag Lagoon, where you’ll walk along part of the ancient Camino Real del Inca.
After lunch, head down into the Llaviucu valley, admiring the changing landscapes as you follow forest trails and look out for exotic birds, including Andean toucan, turquoise magpie, and hummingbirds.
After a full day exploring the park’s natural wonders, return to Cuenca, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 4pm.
