Before journeying anywhere in the country, it is important to take time to discover the unique culture of this mystical land. The best way is to take a day and tour the Kathmandu Valley. Today we will explore three of the seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This will include the most holy site of Pashupatinath. In this place you will find 490 Hindu temples and is one of the most sacred sites in all of Hinduism. There are Sadhus (Hindu holy men) teaching and praying. From there, go to Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist Stupa in all of Asia. Here you will find the largest community of Tibetan refugees as they worship the Lord Buddha. In the afternoon you will travel to the ancient city of Bhaktapur. The entire city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the old royal palace and amazing temples. The carvings are exquisite! We are finding a new route today as we trek past the old village of Langtang. Since the earthquake, the village was moved from its old location to the top of the hill. We’ll see how powerful the 2015 earthquake was that destroyed this village. The good news is that Nepal only experiences a major earthquake about every 75 years, so we can relax. The views along the way are fabulous. We can look down into the well-watered green Langtang Valley or upwards at the snowcapped peaks. It’s a great day for trekking! It takes us about 4 – 5 hours to reach the village of Mundu.

DAY 7: Explore Langtang area
We can leave our packs behind as we take our cameras and travel around the area. We can explore Langshisha Kharka, a summer pasture ground for amazing views. Or if we feel more ambitions, hike to the top of Cherko RI. This is a trekking peak (4984 m/16,352 ft) which features stunning views of the Langtang Mountains. We can even peer into neighboring Tibet. The views are stunning, no matter which way we hike. In the evening you will return to Kyanjin Gumba for the night.
DAY 8: Trek to Lama Hotel
We start the return trek today as we come down the mountain. We pass some of the previous places we’ve stayed to reach Lama Hotel. It is a great view along the way as we pass by farms that are terraced into the mountain sides. We’ll spend a night at Lama Hotel. Trekking time is 6 – 7 hours.

There is only one route to and from Langtang, and our bus journey takes us back the way we came. It’s a 7 – 8 hour journey back to the capital city of Nepal. Tonight rest in your hotel and enjoy a hot shower.
DAY 11: Free Day
It's your day to enjoy Kathmandu. Some choose to rest from their trek while others will take advantage of the time to explore more of the Kathmandu Valley.
