Extreme Jaco Canyoning

This exciting canyoning tour in Costa Rica starts just 20 minutes from Jaco! After fueling up with an authentic Costa Rican breakfast, we hop into our 4×4 vehicles and drive up the mountain to our private reserve at an altitude of over 1,000ft.

Your experienced guide will provide a comprehensive safety briefing before embarking on a five-minute hike to the first zipline. Here, you'll enjoy two exhilarating zips over the river, followed by a dry training rappel to familiarize yourself with proper techniques.

A short hike downstream leads to opportunities for swimming and optional cliff jumping from heights of 4 to 25 feet. Next, you'll tackle four waterfall rappels ranging from 50 to 85 feet, each offering a unique challenge.

The adventure culminates with Costa Rica's longest unassisted rappel—a thrilling 150-foot descent into a refreshing pool. Throughout the experience, your guide ensures your safety with constant support. After exploring natural swimming holes deep within the canyon, a steep 30-minute hike brings you back to base. The entire tour spans approximately five to six hours, making it essential to be in good physical condition for this unforgettable adventure.

 

Just 20 minutes from Jaco we will arrive at our base to start your adventure. Let’s hop in our 4×4 safari vehicles and drive up the mountain over 1000′ to get to our private reserve. Your guide will stop along the way to point out interesting flora and fauna and the incredible views of the ocean and countryside.
When we arrive at the top you will be outfitted with latest and safest gear from Black Diamond in the USA. 

You will be instructed on the safe and proper use of our equipment then begin your 5-minute hike to the first zipline. After 2 “zips” over the river, we will do a dry training rappel to familiarize you with the proper technique. A short hike down river and we will have some swimming and cliff jumping (4-25′) opportunities if you desire! Now it is time to get wet! We will start with 4 rappels from 50′ to 85′. Now it gets EXTREME! The next rappel is the longest unassisted rappel in Costa Rica at 150′ with a drop into a pool. At all times you will be “safe and backed up” by your guides!

Now we are deep in the canyon with other swimming natural holes to plunge into. The hike out is about 30 minutes and pretty steep, total tour time is 5-6 hours. You should be in good shape for this adventure. Back to basecamp for an authentic Costa Rica lunch and now you can say “I am a canyoneer!” and can check this off your bucket list.

 Important Info

 All of our tours will run rain or shine. When it rains here it is still relatively warm and the rain can actually enhance your experience while you are in the rain forest during the rain. However, if the rain is so strong that it creates conditions that your guide deems it unsafe, we will cancel the tour and you can reschedule or receive a refund.
