We had a 3:30 sailing on the When & If with Captain Chelsea & First Mates Kass and JP. They are fantastic! This sail is well worth it and the ship is gorgeous. If you are on the fence, just book it!

After reading an article on WoodenBoat magazine about 'WHEN AND IF', we decided to do an afternoon sail on our visit to the east coast of Massachusetts for the first time. What an excellent choice! My family of four had such an amazing time on the ship. It's such a beautiful schooner, the crew are extremely welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and very experienced sailors. This was truly the highlight of our trip to MA. Aside from experiencing sailing on a living piece of history, enjoying being on the water under sail, we had such a fun time with the crew - THANKS! Zach, JP and Jim for the camaraderie! the 'Dark and Stormy' was fabulous. It was fun to get some hands-on raising sails, even got an opportunity to be at the helm. We will certainly do this again! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Salem in summer.

Absolutely worth it! This was a perfect way to wrap up our vacation. The captain was very funny and the crew was awesome! We got to raise the sails and watch the cutest little cannon with quite the punch. Drinks were good and the views amazing. Highly recommend!!

While the boat itself was amazing and a smooth relaxing trip, the captain and crew is what really made it so incredible! Their passion for sailing is so evident and they were so kind. They even stopped and shot the cannon the next day while passing by the island my brother was getting married at (which was incredible) Absolutely can’t say enough good things, we will absolutely be doing this every time we come to Salem :)

The captain and crew were excellent! We had a wonderful sunset sail and truly enjoyed the conversations, cocktails and beautiful sights. I’d highly recommend taking a sail. You won’t be disappointed!!

Took our daughter and nine friends for a sail to celebrate her 13th birthday. Crew and captain were amazing, wishing her a happy birthday and taking a group photo for us with them at the wheel. Super fun and relaxing. Girls just chatted the whole time, everyone got a soda and they hung out together outside (in the sunshine!) and enjoyed the scenery. Some of them even helped hoist the sails! 13/10.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I found out about Sunset Salem once we got into town and decided to book a sunset cruise on the When & If last minute. I'm so glad that I did! My husband and I both agree it was one (if not the top) favorite things of our entire trip. The crew was so friendly and knowledgeable not only about the boat itself but the history of Salem and neighboring areas. They treated us like family. The crew asked if anyone wanted to help raise the sails which made both kids and kids at heart (like my husband) on the boat very happy. JP made fantastic cocktails (including a delicious mocktail he made just for me since I am pregnant and we were celebrating our babymoon). We were surrounded by beautiful views the entire time. I also found the price very reasonable. I try to visit Salem every few years and will definitely be making sure this is on the itinerary every trip! My only wish is that I would have found it sooner. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

I want to sail every day!! Zach, Kass and JP were just amazing and so much fun!! My only complaint was that it was over too soon! They made us feel so welcome and I am ready if you need extra hands crew! If you are thinking about going on one of their cruises, stop thinking and do it!!
