Clara was an excellent guide. Our food tour in Shibuya involved trying an interesting variety of foods in a variety of interesting settings. Each stop involved learning about the regional foods and history of foods. We enjoyed our experience!

Fabulous private Pontocho Evening Food Tour in the company of our guide Yoshiko. Yoshiko was friendly, funny, helpful and informative, making our 3 hours a pleasure. Good food. Good stories. Good guiding. Highly recommend.

We just returned home from an amazing trip to Japan. One of the highlights of the trip for all of us (my mom, my husband and our 13 year old son) was the ‘Crazy Cute Kawaii Harajuku” food tour. We were so lucky to be paired with Wesley as our guide. He chose amazing foods, treats and activities. Our food tour was on day 2 and my husband and son talked about him and all of the things he taught us about the Japanese culture for the rest of the trip. When we return to Japan we will only book with Wesley. I would give him 10 stars if I could.

Hiroshima food tour

Had an amazing food tour through Hondori street in Hiroshima. Taken to hidden gems that we would have never stopped at on our own. Went to an authentic local stall where Hiroshima okonomiyaki was made in front of us and also ate some local oysters. It was definitely a lot of food and was very fun. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Amazing retro osaka food tour

Absolutely enjoyed our retro food tour in Osaka with Tomo Wong. He was very friendly as well as informative as we made our way through the outer moat area of Osaka where there were many less tourists. We enjoyed the company and food stops as well as some history about the area.

Great way to explore Shibuya and learn about many delicious foods

Clara was an excellent guide! We tried a variety of foods in a variety of different settings. We learned so much about regional foods and the history of foods and got to try so many delicious options. We also got wonderful pictures and enjoyed our time exploring Shibuya between stops. It was a wonderful tour!

Pontocho Evening Food Tour: fabulous early evening in the company of Yoshiko

Yoshiko treated us to a private casual food tour of Gion and Pontocho in Kyoto. Yoshiko was friendly, helpful and very engaging. Yoshiko made our tour both tasty and highly enjoyable. We spent 3 hours in Yoshika's company and had some beer and sake whilst tasting food in places we would never find if only depending on TripAdvisor reviews. Highly recommended both Arigato and Yoshiko!!

We had Shigeki as our tour guide and he was fantastic! He was knowledgeable, patient, and kind. The variety of foods and planning he put into the tour was wonderful! I would recommend the tour and him especially to everyone.

Skip the tour. Save time and money by exploring on your own

Skip the tour- explore the food of Harajuku on your own. This tour is not kawaii or cute food. We were very disappointed. The first stop was a chain matcha dessert bar. We saw the same shop everywhere in Tokyo. We're also not big matcha fans. The second shop was a sushi spam sandwich shop. It was better than I expected and would not have stopped in on my own. The third stop was a chain hard candy shop. It was cute, but again this same shop was everywhere in Tokyo and Kyoto. We also stopped for a mochi, which was the most kawaii food we experienced. Lunch was also disappointing. We stopped at a do it yourself okonomiyaki grill. We told the guide our son was a very picky eater, who really just liked chicken and rice, and sweets. All day, he ate a piece of hard candy, and a bite of the mochi. I was hoping we would stop for the famous crepes, cotton candy, and sweet potatoes that are shown in the photos, but our tour was nothing like that. It was very expensive for what we got.

Wonderful evening in Shinsekai!

Our family of three had a great time with E.K. exploring Shinsekai. He was the perfect host, friendly and informative. We ate takoyaki (interesting octopus balls) and played pachinko, visited an arcade for shooting and saw a fascinating knife demonstration. And what delicious food! Tempura fried everything, sake and the best miso soup we had our whole trip. It was a glorious evening, thanks to E.K.!

We loved our lunch and tour of the Nisheki Market with Atsuko. She took us to the best, most traditional places in the market. We also had a delicious lunch at a locals only type of restaurant near the market. Highly recommend Arigato Travel and their excellent tours.

Absolutely loved working with Arigato to plan a family trip to Japan! It was a wonderful mix of iconic cities and smaller towns and allowed a glimpse past the typical tourist sights and offered a more authentic side of Japan. The guides are very knowledgable, the trip planning process is seamless, and the communication on the ground during the trip is incredible. I highly recommend!!!

Had an amazing experience with Arigato tours in Kyoto! Our guide, H., was wonderful. He brought us through the Nishi market and showed us food we never would have tried on our own - all of it was delicious. I’m a pescatarian and H. very thoughtfully kept that in mind at each stop on the tour. We went back to the market a few times after our tour, and H.’s guidance and the context he shared helped us navigate Nishi much more confidently and comfortably. Can’t recommend highly enough 😊 thank you to H. and the whole Arigato team!

Fantastic food, great local knowledge and history

What an amazing experience for our family! Clara was filled with information both about the history of the market and surrounding area, knowledgeable about all the different foods available, and on great terms with all the vendors. We tried so many new and delicious foods, as well as favorites. We would highly recommend this experience!

We loved our tour guide Ray! He was funny and informative and shared quite a bit of helpful cultural information about Asakusa. Our friend who is a local joined on the tour and learned things she never knew about her hometown. The food spots were delicious and it was really fun that Ray ate with us and by the end we all felt like close friends! A highlight of our trip for sure!

Great tour with a great guide, Emma.

This little tour was a great highlight of our visit to Tokyo. Emma was so much fun and took us to great little food locations all around Harajuku. We get to taste a few different types of food, learn about the area, and explore the cultural connection to the foods we were tasting. All along, keeping things fun and entertaining both for us adults and our 16-year-old son. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Harajuku Food Tour

We had a wonderful tour with Ema (Emanuel)! They were incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, and engaging, and shared fascinating insights into Harajuku and Japanese culture that gave us a much deeper appreciation of the area. They took us to places we never would have discovered on our own, including a charming artists' community and a hidden restaurant with delicious food. The conversation flowed effortlessly throughout the tour, and Ema's kindness and welcoming nature made the experience both enjoyable and memorable. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone visiting Japan.
