Hiking to Nagarkot and Namo Buddha begins from Chisapani, which can be reached after an hour drive and 5 hour hike. The hiking trail is dominated by the sub-tropical forests, magnificent waterfalls and watershed area of the Shivapuri National Park. Nagarkot is a popular place for tourists and a great place to view the Himalayas and stunning sunrise over them. The scenery is just awesome with green hill surroundings and scattered villages.
The hike further leads you to Dhulikhel town, the town which has still preserved the centuries old pagoda style temples. It is an ancient town from where you can explore the eastern Himalayas. Further climbing up on a fine trail takes us to Namo Buddha monastery. It is a very important monastery for Buddhists and a pilgrimage place. Panauti village is in just about 2 hour walking distance. It is a Newar village with an attraction of the greenery, ethnic settlements and the authentic history.
