Chianti Hills Wine Experience from Florence

This is a great activity. It very relaxing, we had great time tasting different wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Even my toddler was a fan of the vinegar!!!

You learn a lot, the guide on the way there Anna was amazing and I'm glad we made it safely back with the driver, Ricardo. We tried a variety of wine that is grown on the vineyard we were visiting and we also got to try olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar.

We booked pn the 1400 tour meeting at Florence train station with the trip duration advertised as 5 hours total. Booking advised us to be there 20 minutes before to get checked in, which we did, and were then told it was to start at 1405, which then became 1410. We then had a 10-15 minute walk to the bus in the heat of the day which fortunately everyone in the group was able to do. Once on the bus, we finally departed at 1425 for a roughly 1 hour journey to the vineyard. Our guide Emma was friendly and gave a lot of information about the area and it's wines and history as we travelled. Once at our destination we were met by our host and we briefly stopped too look at some vines allowing us to pick and taste the grapes as they were soon to be harvested which was a nice treat before being taken out of the heat and inside for our first glass and a talk on the history of thier production of wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. From there we were taken to a tasting room where we sampled another 6 wines accompanied with various breads, cheese and cold meats. This felt more of a promotion push for them to sell the products to us. Once the tasting was over, if anyone did buy anything, it left little time to explorl and relax in the beautiful surroundings as we were asked to be back on the bus for 1715 for the trip back to Florence. We arrived back to where we started just after 1800 where we had another 10-15 minute walk back to the train station. Overall the trip was less than 4 hours and not the 5 hours as advertised. This left us feeling as though the main part at the the vineyard tour was rushed and too focused on selling product rather than enjoying the experience. On the positive side though, our guides were very knowledgeable and welcoming, the wine was very nice, and the setting (what we saw of it) quite pleasant. The trip would be vastly improved by sticking to the advertised tour duration allowing guests to explore the outside environment at their leisure, maybe enjoying a bottle as they do. Plus an insight of the production areas may help to give more understanding of the process of wine making

Great tour guide, well organised tasting, decent wine and a nice selection of food to pair.. It was unfortunate that all the products were too expensive to buy. The trip was longer than 2.5 hours as stated.
