While being the most famous and eminent Catalan architect, Gaudí is also admired around the World as a creator of the most unique and distinctive architectural style. His unique approach to the Art Nouveau movement generated some of the most creative buildings and greatly influenced the face of Barcelona architecture.
In total, there are 14 Gaudí buildings in Barcelona and more outside of the city. The most famous of them are located on the Passeig de Gracia, the most sophisticated street in Barcelona. It brings together luxury shops and monumental buildings by renowned modernist architects. This 1,3 km-long boulevard boosts Barcelona's most renowned buildings. No wonder they are all gathered here: this street was actually chosen as a homeland by the rich Catalans, who were coming back from the new world with money and a desire to impress their compatriots.
With this self-guided tour, you will see some pretty eccentric and definitely very elegant buildings of the Catalan capital, built by the most eminent architects; you will solve the riddle of the famous Antonio Gaudi; you will see how the Spanish "Americans" lived some 130 years ago, and who these people actually were.
