Laurie was a wonderful guide. She highlighted the historic and regional interests as we travelled. Her driving skills were fabulous complimented by her humours comments on driving encounters. She was patient, helpful yet kept us all on time considering the best timing for visits to places of interest.

We had a wonderful 5 day tour of the Scottish Highlands. Our guide and driver Laurie did an excellent job and made sure we had an excellent adventure. She made a couple of stops that added richly to an already wonderful experience. Highly recommend the tour and the driver. If you get Laurie, you’ll be one of the lucky ones.

Review of the tour in Scotland with GetYourGuide and Highland Explorer Tours 5-day tour of the Highlands, Isle of Skye and Loch Ness My experience with this tour was overall very disappointing and not worth the price paid. Tour organization We saw Scotland almost exclusively from the bus. There were many stops, but they were limited to restroom breaks (and not places of interest) at commercial areas with affiliated shops, giving the impression that they were designed more for commercial purposes than to allow participants to visit and appreciate the locations. I believe this type of tour may be more suitable for elderly people or those who prefer to spend most of their time on the bus. Driver and guide The driver certainly proved to be a good driver, but there were several negative aspects that significantly affected the comfort of the trip: The vehicle was quite dated. For all five days, the air conditioning remained constantly on, despite the outside temperature being only 13-14 °C. In the front part of the vehicle, the temperature was almost tropical, while in the back it was extremely cold, to the point of making it necessary to wear a coat during the trip. Despite reports from passengers, the situation was never really resolved. Several stops included in the itinerary were not made because, according to the driver, adequate parking was not available. Consequently, some scheduled visits were simply skipped. Overnight stays The quality of the accommodations was significantly lower than expected. Oban We were assigned a room in the annex that would be an understatement to call inadequate. The space was extremely limited, to the point of not even allowing us to arrange our luggage, which had to be left on the floor and constantly stepped over. Furthermore, the sink provided only cold water. Despite the complaint filed, the facility manager did not intervene to resolve the problem, even though we had paid the same rate as the other participants. Inverness During my two-night stay, the room was never made up, and I have serious doubts that any cleaning was done between one day and the next. Final thoughts Overall, the tour proved expensive compared to the quality of the services offered. The organization, the level of the accommodations, and the comfort during travel were well below expectations. If you wish to visit Scotland and truly appreciate its landscapes and attractions, I recommend organizing the trip independently. Personally, I do not feel like recommending this tour. ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) Strong point: careful and competent driver behind the wheel. Weak points: too many hours on the bus, stops mainly for restrooms and shopping, uncomfortable climate on board, mediocre accommodations, and overall quality not proportional to the cost of the tour.

We had a fantastic experience on this tour, in large part due to our exceptional guide, Graeme. His stories, knowledge, and wonderful sense of humour surpassed all our expectations for the week. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Scotland for the first time who wants to get a taste of all it has to offer!
