Good to know
- Children under 5 years old, including infants who do not require a seat, are not permitted to travel. We are unable to accommodate any child under the age of 5.
- It is not possible to upgrade your Standard steam train ticket to a First Class ticket
- It is recommended to book transport to the departure point in advance. Please also allow extra time to get to the departure point for check-in. We advise you arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour departure to allow time to check-in for the tour. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold the bus or refund for any late arrivals.
- Return times are approximate and subject to road conditions and weather. Please ensure you allocate sufficient time for any onward travel plans, allowing at least 3 hours after the scheduled return time for connections or activities.
- The tour may operate with our sister company, HAGGiS Adventures.
- Please note that the Jacobite Steam Train service may be subject to alterations and cancellations at short notice, outwith our control.
- Each traveller is allowed a maximum of 1 suitcase weighing no more than 33lbs (15kg) and 1 carry-on bag.

To Japanese people who want to ride the SL Jacobite
The driver and tour guide explained the history of Scotland and the sights along the way with jokes. However, since Japanese will not be supported as of September 19, 2026, it is advisable to be able to understand some English or be able to utilize a simultaneous translation function. Since this tour uses a minibus for transportation, you can get to know other tour guests. If you want to ride in a four-person box seat on the Jacobite, I think it's best to book for four if you don't want to be with other tour guests. Although the tour time is long, since the stay times at each tourist spot and lunch times are not that long, we recommend doing some research beforehand. Dress appropriately considering the season and weather (having rain boots or rainwear would allow for flexible responses). I recommend going by train. Since there is often a temperature difference between inside and outside the car, it would be even better to wear clothes that are easy to take off and put on. Payment can be made in Japanese Yen. Have a wonderful trip!
A Taste of the Highlands
Absolutely loved this tour and would 100% recommend it! The scenery was just beautiful. Of course, it’s especially great if you’re a Harry Potter fan, but even if you’re not, the landscapes alone make it worth it. We were a bit worried beforehand because the weather forecast wasn’t looking great, but it actually turned out to be perfect. The changing weather made the scenery even more beautiful and gave everything a completely different atmosphere. The tour is quite a long day, but it really didn’t feel like it. The mix of driving, little stops and the train ride was just right, and the time flew by. We were also really lucky to have Alex as our guide. He was so likeable, funny and quick-witted, and always had a joke or funny comment ready. He definitely made the whole experience even better. Such a great day and an experience we’ll definitely remember! Highly recommend!
Breathtaking for the nature and jokes
Alex was a great tourguide! It felt like having a stand up comedian, a tourguide, historian and driver in one. The landscape was breathtaking! Totally recommend this day trip it pays off!
Absolutely remarkable!
The tour was hosted by Alex, he is adorable and so funny. The first two hours especially and all the remaining time were informative and Alex was never shy to tell a joke inbetween. Stops were calculated perfect and the train was marvelous - especially if you are a Harry Potter fan. In conclusion an amazing day - despite its length of almost 13 hours (but that was clear beforehand)

A great journey and the tour guide Alex was brilliant! A magical experience! The visit lasts around 12 hours, morning till late evening.
