Day 1: Bahia Bustamante Lodge

Welcome to Bahia Bustamante. Check in is in the afternoon. You will have time to explore the area on you own. Bahia Bustamante used to be a Seaweed Ranch, where more than 400 people lived. According to the tide table and weather conditions, activities for next day will be coordinated. 

Dinner and overnight at Bahia Bustamante Lodge.

Day 2: Bahia Bustamante – Navigation to see marine wildlife

After breakfast we get on the boat and sail along the seaweed fields where we come across vessels working on the seaweed harvest. Later we sail on the mussel crops and tell you all about the breeding online system we use. Finally we come near the islands that are within the cove, approach the Roca Malaspina to continue sailing down the archipelago made up by the Vernacci Islands. While sailing, we can contemplate Sea Lion colonies (3,500 animals during the breeding season), Penguins (100,000) and colorful Marine Bird colonies. Then we moor the boat and return to the village. Lunch. 

Afternoon at leisure. You could either participate in other activities planned by our staff (additional cost) or discover Graviña Peninsula on your own, 70km of sandy beaches, crystal clear water and reddish rocks.

Day 3: Bahia Bustamante - Petrified Forest

After breakfast, we visit the Petrified Forest, located inside our property. At the gully, we travel 60 million years back to be able to interpret the different pieces. On foot, we arrive at “the Pyramid” where it is possible to listen to the Patagonian silence. We can return walking all along the edge of the hill till we find ourselves again at the starting point. 

Back to the village to have lunch.

Description

Bahia Bustamante is a seaside Lodge surrounded by 360° of wild nature in Patagonia. Only a few places in the world house such an amount and diversity of seabirds and marine mammals, which is why it has been included in the National Park "Patagonia Austral". Remote and exclusive, with the philosophy of sustainability and preserving the natural habitat, it is ideal for nature lovers. Activities include bird (penguins and more) and sea lion watching, visit to the petrified forest, to the seaweed industry, and to a typical Patagonian ranch with more than 20.000 sheep, panoramic treks, horseback riding and mountain bike. Relaxing and enjoying the most exclusive sandy beaches and crystal-clear water, surrounded by huge red rocks is also possible.

  • 2 nights accommodation in 1 Sea View House: Each house has 2 bedrooms, living room, and fully equipped bathroom. Mini bar & ocean front view terrace. The program includes full board (fixed menu - beverages are not included) and 2 half day activities, which are coordinated the night before and are subject to weather conditions & tide tables. Bicycles at disposal.
  • Possible activities: Navigation to see marine wildlife, 4x4 or trekking around Graviña Peninsula, Penguin Island, Petrified Forest, historic tour around the town, Aristizabal Cape visit, trekking around the Canyon. Activities are shared with the rest of our guests and are not done in private. It is not a "menu" of activities, these are coordinated by our staff and scheduled the night before.

Once the lights go out each house is still illuminated by battery lights. We recommend bringing a flashlight.<br>Internet: The Lodge has a very basic wi fi connection, only available at the Restaurant from 7 pm to 00 hs. It is not reliable and very slow.<br>Telephone: there is no cell phone signal. We have a telephone at disposal. This service has an extra cost.<br>Laundry Service: available with an extra cost.<br>Credit Cards: We accept VISA, American Express and MasterCard once at the Lodge.<br>Bilingual Attention: Spanish – English.<br>Activities: They are scheduled and informed the previous night. Since they are subject to weather conditions, the order in which they are carried out is subject to change. All activities are carried out within the property and no activity demands important physical effort. Previous experience is necessary only for extra activities: horse riding and kayak sailing.<br>Restaurant: Guests cannot access the old Grocery Store with food or drinks. Lunch is served until 2 pm. In case guests arrive later, they will be able to enjoy a snack or tea with homemade toasts.<br>Uncork: we have our own wine and drinks menu. In case guests prefer to bring their own wine, uncorking service will be charged<br>Buffet breakfast. It is a typical ranch, Argentine breakfast. We offer different types of cereal, fruits, and toasts of homemade bread, homemade jams and butter (it all depends on the season).<br>Lunch and dinner: Fixed menu with entrance, main course and dessert. Beverages are not included in the rate.<br>Pets: Small dogs are allowed. Please inform Reservations Office if you are bringing your pet. Guests should consider that in Bahia Bustamante there are dogs and other animals which are not tied, so pets should always be tied and are responsibility of their owners.<br>Children: Children under 10 years old are not allowed in the living room area. “The Club” is reserved for them, with different games.<br>Respect the environment: We are located inside a National Park. Please, take care of your own garbage and do not take seashells, fossils, and other object of the park. Those using vehicles always travel along marked paths, without stepping out of the path.
