Why take this tour?

Cagliari, the main city in Sardinia and dubbed ‘The City of Sun’, is blessed with mild winters, making it the perfect year-round destination. Nestled in the Bay of the Angels, and with a strategic position in the Mediterranean, it comes as no surprise that Cagliari has been dominated by different civilizations: Phoenicians, Romans, Pisans, Spanish, and the Piedmontese Savoy Dukes - all contributing to its eclectic cultural heritage.

On the 2.5-hour private tour, meet your expert guide at Piazza Costituzione to begin your journey in the oldest quarter of the city; Castello. Here at the square you can't help but notice the Rampart of Saint Remy, a monumental 19th century structure that is a striking contrast to this medieval neighborhood. Made from limestone, it features a beautiful double staircase leading up to an imposing archway. Make your way up the stairs to an open terrace, where you’ll delight in the unforgettable vista of the skyline of Cagliari with a backdrop of the mesmerizing blue Mediterranean Sea.

Continuing with your tour, you'll learn about the city's fascinating past as you make your way to its two soaring towers - landmarks left by the Pisans. Both built in the 14th-century by the same architecture, the Elephant Tower takes its name from the elephant sculpture situated at the side of the main entrance, halfway up the tower, while Saint Pancras Tower takes the honor of being the tallest tower in the city.

As you weave through ancient alleys, your next stop is Piazza Palazzo, the most prominent square in the neighborhood. Sitting in this square is the 14th-century Palazzo Regio (the former residence of the Viceroys) and the splendid St. Mary's Cathedral with its tiered Pisan-Romanesque facade. Your tour ends here in the Castello, a neighborhood that offers a glimpse of Cagliari’s rich past.
