Description | This is a fantastic evening of wining and dining at some of the most authentic eateries in Barcelona: a must for any serious foodies visiting the city who want to try gourmet versions of some of Spain’s regional specialties. Your tour starts in the late afternoon when you meet your small group of no more than 15 people and your local, foodie guide in front one of the city’s most beloved local markets. Your first stop is an olive oil shop to taste five different olive oils and learn why it’s considered a superfood in the Mediterranean. Next, you’ll head over to a local Charcutería - the Spanish word for “deli” - that has been feeding the neighborhood for decades. Here you’ll try an assortment of gourmet local cheeses and charcuterie, including chorizo and the famous Iberian ham. You’ll also learn how to drink from a traditional Catalán pitcher called a porró. There’s a knack to it, but don’t worry, your guide will show you how to drink like a true Catalán. The next stop is a little stand that has been a Barcelona institution since opening in 1920. Here you can get an ice-cold horchata, a sweet drink made from nuts that is beloved throughout Spain and Mexico. We’ll fill up some to-go bottles and march on because there is a lot left to see and taste. Leaving the neighborhood of Sant Antoni, you’ll enter the vibrant barrio of Poble Sec and make your way down a buzzing pedestrian street to our favorite pintxos bar which specializes in a style of tapas originating in the Basque Country. Choose two from their extensive spread and wash them down with a complimentary glass of txakoli, a specialty sparkling wine from the Basque country Before heading to your final stop of the night, we have a little surprise. You’ll head to the top of Montjuic for incredible views over the city and sea. As the sun sets, you’ll hop into to a cable car that takes you down from the mountain and into the port, before heading - via the beach - over to our favorite paella restaurant, where you’ll feast on steaming plates of paella and tapas with a complimentary drink. This tour is a great way to taste your way around the Iberian Peninsula without ever leaving Barcelona. It’s the perfect experience for foodies, families, or anyone looking for a fun, delicious and culturally enlightening night out. |
