After being picked up at your hotel, head to Zipaquirá to explore the city’s Salt Cathedral.
In Zipaquirá, learn about the history of salt in Colombia from your guide, while wandering around the underground Roman Catholic church that’s carved into the walls and ceiling of an abandoned salt mine. Then, enjoy a traditional Colombian lunch (vegetarian option available) in a local eatery in Zipaquirá, known as the “City of Salt.” Afterward, visit the town of Guatavitá and observation of the reservoir of Tominé.
Following that, head to Lake Guatavita where your guide shares the legend of El Dorado and explains the significance of the green lagoon for Muisca Indians.
