The tour is a brilliant introduction to the life of Russian aristocracy of the 19th -early 20th century, up to the time of Nicholas II. Yusupov palace was a home of one of the wealthiest noble families in Russia, it can boast very well preserved ornate state rooms. The real gem is a small home theatre designed as a real opera house but much smaller.

The basement is of special interest as well. Murder of Rasputin took place in the basement of the palace  in December 1916.

Recently opend Faberge Museum is accommodated in a palace that belonged to other  Russian aristocratic families - the Shuvalovs and the Narishkins. At the moment the palace looks beautifuly after the restoration and the jewelry collection of the world  famous Faberge is a real treat. It includes 9 Imperial Easter eggs as well as other incredible objects of jewelry art.

To feel better a grandl scale of the Russian Empire of the 19t century the tour includes a guided visit to Kazan and St Isaac's cathedrals.
