Description

If you want to visit two oldest wine countries in the world – Azerbaijan and Georgia, do not miss this chance.

Most experts agree that the cradle of winemaking most likely resides somewhere in the Caucasus Mountain. Georgia claims to be the oldest wine region in the world due to wine residue found on the inner surfaces of 8000-year-old jars in the village of Shulaveri. Though Azerbaijan does not claim to be the oldest winemaking region in the world, it could be a contender. Indeed Dr. Patrick A. McGovern mentions evidence of grapes and possible winemaking dating to the 7th Millennium BC at Shomu-Tepe in his book Ancient Wine. Shomu-Tepe is located near Tovuz in the northern region of Azerbaijan near the Georgian border.

About operator:

We are the first Wine tourism company who specializes in wine tours in Azerbaijan. We offer different wine tours which involves both day trips and 1 night tour and also multi-day tours in Baku, Shamakhi, Aghsu, Ismayilli, Qabala, Ganja. We also offer combined wine tours of Azerbaijan and Georgia – two ancient places, birthplaces of wine-making, South Caucasus. We pay attention to giving back to community, to local people. Instead of taking our guests to touristy restaurants, we take them to local families for authentic meals. By doing that we give them extra income and pay fair prices to them. Apart from wine tours, we offer combination of wine tours with golf, ethno master classes (cooking, pottery, carpet weaving and blacksmith), wine crawl and culinary tour of Azerbaijan. The foundation date is 27 September 2018 which is also considered as World Tourism Day.
