- Windsor Castle closures: As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace, sometimes the entire Castle or the State Apartments within the Castle need to be closed at short notice. Every Tuesday and Wednesday 24-26 December Castle closed
- Semi-State Rooms: During the winter months an additional five rooms, known collectively as the Semi-State Rooms, are included in the visitor route.
- St. George’s Chapel: St. George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend the services. It also closes at 4pm during the week, so please ensure that this is one of the first places you visit upon arrival.
- Infants aged 0-2 can join this tour for free however they must sit on the lap of a parent/guardian. If you would like a seat for your infant, please purchase a child ticket. We do not provide car seats.

Okay tour
Great experience but using Golden tours was deflating . Very boring tour guide / bus driver . You could barely understand his direction as the Mike would cut in and out . Castle was amazing but more time would have been nice to explore the town of Windsor . Quite expensive for what we did . Next time I would take the train in and stay for the day . Golden tours employees don’t seem happy and it is evident with the interaction we came across . We have taken many tours using Viator and this is the first disappointment in service we have had . Windsor Castle was awesome and I am truly happy to have made it there .
Windsor Day Trip w/Transportation from London - Amazing experience!
Great afternoon trip to Windsor Castle with Golden Tours. Our group was small - 26 people. Our guide walked us up to the entrance of Windsor & ensured we knew what time to meet back up. Self-guided audio tour through property. Plenty of time to explore (about 3 hours). Highly recommend for an afternoon short day trip to Windsor Castle
High difficulty in walking
Definitely need to be aware of the fact when you get to Windsor Castle, it’s a long walk to get in and it’s all uphill so if you have any walking challenges, you’re gonna struggle to do this excursion. We had several women that ended up sitting on a bench and buying lunch because they couldn’t get up there. No help was offered.
Windsor Castle
Eileen was a very knowledgeable tour guide. I learned a lot about Windsor Castle from her. What a castle! It was nice to be able to see the gardens too. She gave us plenty of time to see the highlights. It was a small group tour. Mavis was our fantastic coach driver.

There was no guide on the bus and the driver did not speak English well. We were not prepared in any way for our tour, we shouldhave just taken the train to Windsor Castle. The bus was full and I could not sit with my family. Viator she refund my money.
