Following pickup from your hotel in Paraty, board a fully-outfitted Jeep with the tour guide for your 6-hour outdoor adventure. Bump down the rugged roads outside of Paraty, taking the scenic route through Serra da Bocaina (Bocaino Mountains National Park). Listen as your guide points out the local animal and plant life, including the jequitibá, one of the region's largest trees.
Stop at the Gold Trail Exposition, along the Caminho do Ouro (the Gold Trail). Learn about the heyday of gold export in Brazil during the 18th century.
At Tobago Falls, watch adventurous swimmers coast down a 60-ft (18-meter) rock slide into the water, then check out Tarzan Falls, whose deepest pools can be reached only by rope swing.
Visit Engenho D'Ouro, a cachaça distillery that produces Brazil's favorite liquor from sugarcane. See how the clear spirit is aged in wooden casks and taste a few samples. Be sure to ask your guide for drink recipes.
Get back in the Jeep and travel to Villa Verde, a local restaurant where you'll eat lunch (own expense). The onsite waterfall is a great place for a post-lunch swim.
Enjoy a glimpse into Brazilian farm life on your next stop, the Murycana Farm and cachaça distillery. Then check out the Bromeliad Exhibition to view its more than 300 species of plants.
After your adventurous day touring Paraty's surrounding area, return to your hotel for drop-off.
