Washington DC Photo Safari: Monuments and Memorials Tour

Summary

This half- or full-day Washington, DC photo safari begins in the morning with a 45-minute orientation. Whether shooting as a novice or an expert, learn essential tips for capturing the best in every image, regardless of the type of camera being used — from a high-end DSLR to a smartphone, tablet and anything in between. Learn how to properly compose a photo and how to shoot in all lighting conditions. Master shutter speed, F-stop, white balance, ISO settings and more, if applicable. The hands-on guidance during this opening session is worth the price of admission itself. But that’s only the beginning. Now it’s time to put this valuable knowledge into good practice. And what better subject matter than the world-famous memorials and monuments of our nation’s capital? On the half-day tour, capture the morning light as it shines on the White House and Lafayette Square. Experiment with a variety of angles while taking pictures of the Albert Einstein Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Then get some action shots of bustling Union Station as pedestrians hurriedly come and go just before lunch time. On the full-day tour, enjoy the same morning photo experience, then grab a bite to eat at Union Station (own expense). After lunch, drive to the US Botanic Gardens to capture flowers and plants in a greenhouse, and photograph the adjoining US Capitol building in the afternoon sun. The tour then goes on  to the colorful and architecturally diverse Adams-Morgan neighborhood, as you try your hand at abstract photography. Continue on to the magnificent Washington National Cathedral. Here, you will learn how to photograph stained-glass windows and church interiors and exteriors. After the tour, your instructor drops you off at the nearby Tenleytown Metro station.
