Description

An essential tour for the understanding of Venice!! Have a walk outdoors through the most historical and important places of Venice. Start the tour with a walking tour in the city center, St. Mark’s Square, from where you will reach the Remedio Bridge, which offers a privileged view of the Bridge of Sighs, also known as the “Lovers’ Bridge”, even though it actually leads to the dark and feared Doge’s prisons. Cross the Campiello degli Orbi and reach the area of Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, where the Venetian hospital is now located. After greeting the hidden and charming Campiello Remer, which offers a special view of the Rialto Bridge, the itinerary leads to the legendary home of Marco Polo, the Venetian well known explorer. After the walking tour, discover St. Mark's Basilica. Admire the iconic facade, adorned with winged lions and ancient columns, before entering a world of artistic splendour. Inside you will find breathtaking golden mosaics covering the Basilica's 43,000 square metres and intricate marble inlays on the floors. With the help of our expert guide, you will learn about the biblical scenes, the symbolism of the mosaics, and the importance of the church and the works of art it houses. You will discover the history and legends behind the frescoes and the majestic five domes, and you will be amazed by the splendour of the play of light created by the golden mosaics inside the Basilica.
