Visit Cortes Waterfall from Playa del Coco
Summary
Start the day with 9am pickup at your hotel (selected hotels only), then begin the 1-hour trip to Cortes Falls, passing a trio of Guanacaste volcanoes along the way: spot Rincon de la Vieja, Miravalles, and Tenorio. Upon arrival at Cortes Falls, you’ll descend a short, steep trail to the waterfall, where you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the peaceful spot.
Swim in the clear pool at the base of the waterfall, and scramble on rocks behind the lacy, 49-foot (15-meter) wide curtain of water. Stretch out on the white, sandy beach, and soak up the sun, listening for the tropical birds and other wildlife that thrive in the surrounding forest. At the end of your time at the waterfall, dry off and visit a nearby restaurant for an included lunch, then begin the return trip to Playa del Coco. This 5-hour tour concludes with drop-off at your original departure point.

Discovering Cortes Falls is a bit like entering paradise. Covering an area around 15 meters high by 15 meters wide, the waterfall is considered among the most spectacular in Costa Rica. You’ll get to go behind the water curtain that separates the falls from a wonderful sandy beach and mini-cavern. In addition, you can climb the waterfall mountain to observe the site from the top of the falls. This spectacular place is often visited by howler monkeys and white face monkeys.
