Village Tour, Crabbing by the River and Goan Portuguese Fusion Meal with a Local
Summary
Tour info
Why take this tour?
The experience takes place in your host Kim's home in Orlim village where you'll be greeted with fresh coconut water straight from the tree! Kim will then explain to you how Goan food has a Hindu Saraswat and Catholic Portuguese influence. Join her for a short walk around the village, and visit a 450 year old church. You may even spot migratory birds before you proceed to the river to catch your lunch! The best catch is when the water is low and the tide is about to turn, so while you wait join Kim for a picnic by the river to enjoy some homemade snacks and drinks she brought. Back home, you’re free to explore the large selection of spices and fruit trees in the garden before you join Kim in the kitchen to watch her steam the crabs you caught earlier. Your meal will be a collection of Goan-Portuguese fusion cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients. You might enjoy dishes like fish cutlets or prawn curry, and end with a dessert like caramel custard.
