Having met in Klaipėda we will drive you to ferry to embark for Curonian spit. The history of this 100 km long and few kilometers wide spit greatly differs from the rest of Lithuania: local curonian people were fighting the 50-60 meters high sand dunes for almost 2 centuries and finally won the battle.
After a half an hour you will arrive to a small fishing village Pervalka, the starting point of our wildlife adventure.
Firstly you will paddle towards Pervalka lighthouse which is situated on the water near Horses' cape. From here you will encounter scenic landscapes of Untouched Sand Dunes and approach it stroke by stroke. You will observe the wildlife from close distance as the area is closed for people.
You will be shown places where sand dunes for 4 times buried fishermen village Nagliai and hear stories about extinct curonian people who were fighting these sands for more than two hundred years.
After some paddling you will reach the Naglių Cape where you will be offered a picnic. Having had some simple lunch and drinks you will continue towards one of the biggest colonies of great cormorants in Europe. You can observe over 6000 birds breeding there.
Tour ends in Juodkrantė, from where we will bring you back to Klaipėda.
Weather conditions: we might reverse the tour start from Pervalka to Juodkrantė so that you paddle mostly downwind and not against the wind. Canoeing tour won't take place in case of strong wind. In this case we will offer you an alternative tour or you can cancel the tour.
Clothing: weather-proof clothing is recommended, shoes can get wet.
