The National Park is a huge open-air folklore museum and combines harmonically characteristics of both natural and man-made sights such as stone bridges, traditional settlements, coexisting with the natural wonders such as beautiful landscapes, steep mountains, gorges and caves. Many rare species of plants grow in the region. The area is also home to protected mammal species such as otters, brown bears and wild goats while the whole park is particularly important to bird’s populations. There have also been recorded many species of invertebrates, fishes, amphibians and reptiles.
