Toggle FAQ

Participants are encouraged to stow any personal items in their vehicle or lockers before outfitting. While up on the course, you will not be allowed to carry anything in your pockets or on your person that could fall to the ground. Items carried on course must be tethered at all times. Fast-acting medications, such as an EpiPen or an asthma inhaler, are an exception. Our staff are happy to assist you with a way to secure these items to your gear.

Can I take my camera or phone with me?

Toggle FAQ

Yes, cameras and cell phones are permitted, provided they have a strap and can be secured to your gear. We suggest point-and-shoot style cameras rather than ones with large lenses. GoPro video cameras can be accommodated if you bring along the helmet strap accessory (helmet sticky-mounts do not work).

During your adventure experience, you will choose your challenge level from beginner to difficult courses. Our staff can help you select courses that are appropriate to your age, skill, and comfort level.

Is the adventure safe?

Toggle FAQ

Like other outdoor adventure sports, zip-lining, climbing, and aerial trekking expose participants to real risk and the possibility of loss or injury. A number of these risks are necessary and inherent to adventure sports activities like these. Navitat Knoxville takes steps to minimize these risks, including but not limited to using industry-specific smart-belay lanyards that keep you connected to safety lines while on the course, retaining third-party, professional inspectors to review the course annually, conducting daily pre-use checks of the course prior to opening each day, conducting ongoing staff training, and participating in industry trade associations like the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT).

Participants play a significant role in ensuring their personal safety. Following instructions and guidelines (posted and verbal) and knowing your personal limits will help to ensure you have the best experience.

Toggle FAQ

Can my children and their friends participate alone?

Toggle FAQ

he simple answer is, “it depends.” Due to the nature of the activities, we strongly encourage parents to participate with minors, especially those who do not have extensive experience at height or in adventure sports.

In general, the following guidelines apply for the supervision of minors:

• Ages 7 to 9. Must be accompanied on the course by a parent or parent-appointed, adult chaperone (“Responsible Adult”). One (1) Responsible Adult may accompany-on-course a maximum of one (1) participant under the age of 10 years. Rent-a-Guides can be purchased (with advanced notice of 48 hours, pending availability) to accompany children on the course if the Responsible Adult does not wish to or cannot accompany the children.

• Ages 10 to 17. A parent or parent-appointed adult chaperone (“Responsible Adult”) must be present on-site at Ijams Nature Center and within earshot of the minors for whom they are responsible for the duration of the program. If all participants are 10 years or older, the Responsible Adult need not participate or purchase a ticket provided each minor demonstrates the ability to use the equipment and act independently at the safety briefing.

If you will be participating with a minor for whom you are not the biological parent, adopted parent, or legal, court-appointed guardian, please be advised that each minor must present a completed Aerial Adventure Park Visitor Agreement, signed by their parent or legal, court-appointed guardian before accessing the course. Parents who are not present may complete their minor’s Aerial Adventure Park Visitor Agreement online using a computer or mobile device. Links are provided with ticket purchase confirmation e-mail.
