During the trip to Lake Sevan, we will visit the monastery on peninsula, Sevanavank, which is a monastic complex located on a peninsula at the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan. Initially the monastery was built at the southern shore of a small island. After the artificial draining of Lake Sevan, the water level fell about 20 metres, and the island transformed into a peninsula. ake Sevan is the largest body of water in Armenia and the Caucasus region, and one of the largest freshwater high-altitude lakes in Eurasia. The total surface area of its basin is about 5,000 km2, which makes up 1⁄6 of Armenia's territory. Here you can taste the well-known Sevan trout.
