The Cultural Walk at Margao

The cultural capital of Goa, Margao is known for its rich cultural history and historic architectural landmarks.

The historic 450+ years old Holy Spirit Church, established in 1564 has numerous secrets from its architecture to a special phenomenon that takes place on the day of equinox. The infamous Margao Massacre of 1890 takes place here, with some marks that speaks of the battles that were fought in the making of margao..We will then take a journey of how the city was established – from Old Municipality (1770) and Market to the stories of the new one (1905). We also visit a special monument that hosted one of the greatest thinkers of the modern era. Then we move on to the quiet streets of Comba to explore the interesting Hindu Architecture.

The trail starts at 3:30pm and goes on for 2.5 Hours

This is a walking trail and has a distance of about 1500m total.

This walking trail will take you through the heritage and the fascinating facts of Margao. We also explore interesting architecture of the place and the people that have influenced its making.
