Meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel early in the morning, and then transfer to the Taipei railway station. Board an express train bound for Hualien on your own.
Upon arrival in Hualien, board a comfortable, air-conditioned coach for the trip through the Taroko Gorge in Taroko National Park, named one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Asia. Set out on the 12.5-mile (20-km) section of highway that runs from Taroko to Tiansiang, winding through the steep marble cliffs and tunnels of the gorge.
As you ride, admire views of the Liwu River, which cut through the marble to form the deep, narrow gorge over millions of years. In all, the coach trip travels through an impressive 38 separate tunnels, ending up at the Eternal Spring Shrine. Here, small temples have been built to honor those Taiwanese veterans who lost their lives in the construction of the tunnels.
After passing through the gorge, stop for lunch at a local restaurant serving typical local fare. Before returning to Taipei by express train, make stops at Shakadang Trail, Cihmu Bridge and more
Your full day of adventure in Taroko National Park and the surroundings ends with drop-off at your hotel in Taipei.
