The route starts from Camps Bay, gradually along a jeep track, known as the old Pipe Track and it goes up through Kasteelspoort. It is +/- 1.5 hours walking up a beautiful ravine, with the sound of water flowing on the background and stunning views of Lion's Head and the Atlantic seaboard. The ascent becomes steeper until we reach the lower plateau of the mountain, where the old cable car ruins are with great photo opportunity from the famous ‘Diving Board Rock’.
We will explore the amphitheater, where the Valley of the Red Gods is—closed in on all sides, it is a green gem on the mountain. Afterwards, we will approach Echo Valley, where we will have a picnic, facing the spectacular Silvermine and Hout Bay in the distance.
If the cable car is closed and unable to reach Table Mountain upper plateau, we will descend through Corridor Ravine, a small indigenous forest on the Twelve Apostles. We will be surrounded by trees, Fynbos and its endemic birds along the path, with beautiful views of Cape Point and Hout Bay in the distance.
