Your morning starts with a pickup in central Taormina by air-conditioned coach. After the roughly 1.5-hour ride along the coast to Syracuse, make your first stop at the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis (entry fee at own expense), one of Sicily’s greatest archeological sites. You’ll explore the vast collection of Roman and Greek ruins, and the well-preserved Roman amphitheater and Greek theater. Head past a secluded garden to the limestone cave known as the Ear of Dionysius.
Next head to Syracuse’s island-neighborhood of Ortygia, where you’ll stop for lunch (own expense). You’ll have enough time to visit the Fountain of Aretusa in Piazza Archimede and admire the Gothic palaces nearby. See Piazza del Duomo, the Syracuse Cathedral, the Palace of Beneventano del Bosco, and the Archbishops Palace.
After a day of sightseeing, make the journey back to Taormina and get dropped off at your original departure point.
