You visit the formerly secret Gotthard fortress in the Gotthard massif. The journey takes you on a scenic journey by train to the Gotthard region, passing Andermatt to the Gotthard Pass. In the fortress you take the metro in the mountain to access all the different rooms. You travel through a changing landscape from Lake Lucerne to the Gotthard Valley, to the alpine village of Andermatt and further into the high mountains of the Central Alps.

Sasso San Gottardo is situated in the alpine mountains over 2000 meters above sea-level. Even in summer cooler temperatures are no exception. Inside the fortress temperatures are around 6-7 degrees C (tunnels, historic part), the exhibition rooms are between 14 and 18 degrees C. We recommend warm clothing and solid shoes.
