Paddleboarding is easy to learn and provides a great full body workout! Choose from a morning or afternoon departure, and begin your half-day adventure with pickup at your La Fortuna hotel. Enjoy the scenic drive west to Lake Arenal as your local guide shares insight on this beautiful region of Costa Rica. Covering 33 square miles (85 square km) and reaching depths of up to 200 feet (61 meters), Lake Arenal provides an important source of hydroelectric power to much of the country. When you arrive at the shores of this beautiful body of water, gear up with a life vest, paddleboard and a single long paddle. Get a lesson on how to mount you board, rise to your knees, stand up and paddle, and then practice a few times on solid ground. Hop aboard a boat and ride to the center of the lake, where you’ll try out your new moves in the water. Once you get the hang of standing up, you’ll be gliding along the lake in no time. Feel like you’re walking on water, while relishing the spectacular scenery of verdant hills and the magnificent crater of Arenal Volcano towering in the distance. Paddle to a small island to refresh with a tropical snack and beverages. After some more time on the water, return to the waiting van and relax on the drive back to La Fortuna.

You'll feel like you're walking on water as you skirt the beautiful bays of Lake Arenal! As we embark on our journey, you’ll be blown away by all of the natural beauty of Volcano Arenal. It’s a great activity for people who just want to be on a freshwater lake, soaking up the sun in gorgeous scenery with plenty of opportunity for conversation. About halfway through the tour, make a short stop on an amazing viewpoint and visit an incredible island while crossing Lake Arenal. After 2.5 hours of paddling, finish your day at our NEW Pedal & Paddle Adventure Store located in the small town of El Foforo on the other side of the lake. Change into your dry clothes and get ready to fuel up with a refreshing and well-deserved snack, before heading back to your hotel. Qué Rico!
