Make your way to the Coki Beach Dive Shop, located on Coki Beach in St Thomas. Meet your PADI Dive Master and small group of 4 students or fewer, ensuring personalized attention and safety.
Fill out an important medical questionnaire and waiver. If you answer YES to any of the medical questions, you may not participate in the dive course.
The first step of your PADI Discover Scuba Dive course is a dry land lesson that covers basic skills, important rules, underwater communication and basic scuba diving theory.
Next, slip on all the necessary equipment and wade off the sandy shore into the shallow, calm water (conditions may vary according to the day of your course). Practice the basic skills you learned and get accustomed to your equipment.
Embark on your first open water dive, following your instructor as they feed the fish on the reef. Float weightlessly along the coral reef and keep an eye out for stingrays and sea turtles. The dive portion typically lasts about 40 minutes, to a maximum depth of 40 feet, depending on your comfort level. Your instructor will monitor your air gauge carefully.
After your course, you are welcome to stay and use the provided snorkel equipment to explore Coki Beach. All-day rental of snorkel equipment is included with your dive course.
You will walk away with an information booklet and a certificate of completion, which you can use toward further scuba certification.
