Get a taste for the rugged but beautiful backcountry of Saint Kitts during this easy morning or afternoon horseback riding adventure. Your ride will allow you the chance to experience the island's largely-unspoiled interior, journeying past sugarcane fields, crystal-clear freshwater pools and diverse plant life along the way.
Start your horseback riding excursion at either 8:45am or 1:30pm (depending on the option you select), receiving a pickup from your Basseterre or Frigate Bay hotel and continuing to the starting point of your ride. Saddle up on your ride and head out into Saint Kitts' beautiful interior, following your guide along a series of gentle, sloping trails. During your ride you'll traverse the ruins of an old sugarcane mill, and enjoy unspoiled views of the island's majestic hillsides, before entering its dense rainforest.
Then listen as your guide shares some details about the forest's many varieties of plant life, including wild sage, bamboo and the "flamboyant," a species known as the national flower of Saint Kitts and Nevis. You're also likely to encounter fruit plants bearing mangoes.
Finish your horseback ride by cooling off with a complimentary refreshment and enjoying a return trip back to your hotel.
