Depart your Reykjavik hotel by private, air-conditioned vehicle with your guide. Bring clothes suitable for paragliding, such as walking boots, warm outerwear, gloves, and a thin hat for under your helmet. Your vehicle is equipped with WiFi and bottled water.
Then, set out for Iceland’s south coast with its black beaches, glaciers, waterfalls, volcanoes, and lava plains, all criss-crossed by powerful rivers. Learn about the region’s geology and history as you travel, and stop first at Urrioafoss, Iceland’s most voluminous waterfall.
Admire the wide falls, and then continue to Seljalandsfoss, arguably the most beautiful of the island’s cascades. View the tumbling falls against the backdrop of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, and if time and conditions allow, walk behind the cascade.
Explore the fascinating Eyjafjallajökull Visitor Centre to chart the infamous, flight-stopping 2010 eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, and then travel on to Skógarfoss, Iceland’s largest waterfall. After admiring these views here, head for the coastline to discover its beauty spots and go paragliding.
See the arched Dyrhólaey promontory and stop to take in the rock columns at the famous black beach of Reynisfjara. Along the way, visit the paragliding base for your flight. Meet the pilot-instructor who will steer your flight, and after a safety briefing, don the provided helmet and harness.
Then, alongside your pilot, run down a slope and step into the air to catch the breezes. Absorb the bird’s-eye views of the Atlantic-beaten cliffs, and drift on the thermals, experiencing the stunning panoramas of glaciers, plains, and volcanic mountains.
After about 10 to 15 minutes in the air, depending on conditions, descend gently to land. Your pilot will have recorded your flight on video for you to download later if you wish.
Following your flight and coastal drive, your tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel.
