Make your way to the historic Cinema Teatro Armida in Sorrento’s city center for an evening performance of the ‘Sorrento Musical.’ The musical offers an entertaining way of learning some of the history of the region with songs, traditional dances, and short skits.
Begin with a welcome aperitivo of sparkling wine or a soft drink at the theater before you settle into your seat and await the show.
The curtain rises on a show depicting scenes from life on the Sorrentine Peninsula in decades and centuries past, including fishermen preparing to set off on their boats to go to work on the sea and market vendors selling local goods to busy Italian shoppers.
Enjoy the professional cast’s renditions of traditional southern Italian folk songs and dances, including the Tarantella, and although the performance is in Italian the stories are easy to follow and understand thanks to the set design, choreography and skill of the actors.
