Why take this tour?

Get set for Kolkata’s finest food tour. Greet your guide as the sun sets and take the subway up to the intellectual heart of the city. Here the Bengal revolutionary fighter Subhas Chandras Bose is more famous than Gandhi and the people are passionate about their rights and independence, not to mention their food.  The evening starts at a little street vendor that blends up one of the district's best tropical lasses. Afterwards, you'll hop from spot to spot tasting some fine Bengali fare - expect jumbo prawns covered in fragrant coconut milk curry, onion bahjis from a revolutionary food stand, succulent chicken curries and a range of Bengali sweets to name just a few. Finish at one of the oldest colonial coffee houses in Kolkata where nearby university students descend for intellectual discussions.

Heritage Tram Tours

About operator:

With a capacity of 24 or 53 and equipped with WiFi, the AC or Non AC tram runs multiple rides daily to the north and south of the city. Each ticket costs includes snacks. A lot is often heard about Kolkata's dwindling traffic system and how its age-old trams, means of transport that are still existing only in this part of India, are adding to the commuters' woes. There have even been talks of doing away with old tram cars for good and redesign the city's traffic network. However, trams are still plying in Kolkata and measures are being taken to resuscitate the 133-year-old Calcutta Tramways Company. Take a ride in one of these AC or Non AC trams early morning this week and get a taste of old Kolkata's magical heritage. Call or email Trips & Tours to book your seats. You can book the whole tram if you wish.
