Small Group Hiking from Kiotari to Asklipio

Summary

14 Km and 350m of elevation gain. A pleasant walk that takes you to discover one of the most characteristic villages of the island, known above all for its imposing castle and its Byzantine church. From Kiotari you go up following a dirt road that climbs up the mountain surrounded by wild plants and Aleppo pines until you reach the ruins of the Castle built on a rocky hill. Located just 4 km from the coast, at a height of 250 m, it enjoys a strategic position with a wide view of the sea and the inner side of the island. The staircase and entrance door of the castle have remained intact, along with most of the thick walls and battlements and the base of two towers. We then descend to the folkloristic village of Askiplio, where, from the splendid Byzantine church, you can admire the agglomeration of small white houses and then return to Kiotari. Along the way we are accompanied by a splendid sea view that from the beaches of Pefkos reaches Plimiri. It ends arriving in a beautiful bay of sand and pebbles.
