Start by leaving the crowds behind on a boat ride from Chokoloskee, Fla., into Everglades National Park where you disembark at a beautiful and remote location. The guide helps with the basics of maneuvering a kayak before you launch into the water, paddling towards Barrier Island Beach. When you reach the shore, set out on a walking tour that takes in wrack lines, shallow tidal zones, dunes, and mangrove swamps.
