Experience the Pre-Hispanic, Colonial & Current History of Mérida
Mérida was named “American Capital of Culture” in 2017 and was recently named the best city in the world, a title backed by its cultural, natural attractions and the warmth of its people. We begin our tour in the Plaza Grande where we can appreciate the colonial architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries and during the journey, we will notice the French features that urban architecture acquired during the 19th century.
We visit Paseo Montejo, an avenue inspired by the great boulevards of Paris where we find imposing mansions where you can understand the origin of such great economic wealth. We visit some of the city’s most emblematic parks such as the Parque de las Américas, the Hermitage Park, and San Sebastián.
Enjoy free time to explore on your own or make do shopping if you prefer. We finish the tour again in the Plaza Grande, also known as the main square.
