The original guide didn't show up, but Andri saved the day!
The start of the tour was bumpy because our original guide didn't show up at the meeting spot or communicate that they wouldn't be arriving. After calling two different phone numbers, we were able to reach customer service. Thankfully, the service agent called in a substitute guide, Andri, and he ended up saving the day. The tour was scheduled to start at 5, but Andri came as soon as he could, so we got into the catacombs at 6. He truly made the experience amazing and overshadowed the chaos of not having the original guide. He was a great storyteller and eager to tell the tales of how the catacombs came to be.
Catacombs and understanding the story.
Our guide was Andre. He was exceptionally good. Kept tour moving, but stopped to answer all questions. Gave a lot of history and entertaining stories. Highly recommend Andre. Subject matter a bit morbid given room after room of stacked bones. Especially liked seeing restricted areas including carvings in limestone by worker in past of his memory of other buildings.
Andre Superb
Andre was both informative, providing stories and history behind have catacombs came to be, but also friendly to keep the mood light while respecting the sanctity of the catacombs. He watched after all of us to make sure the group stayed together and did an excellent job on the tour. Even afterwards, he provided directions to the Metro for our return trip home. Very accommodating.
A really insightful and...
A really insightful and fun experience. Andrei was an excellent guide! For those that tend to get cold easily, make sure to take a sweater and bring some water for all the walking we do.
