Stunning Trails, but Far Too Little Time to Enjoy Them
Be prepared for a long and tiring day. You spend a significant amount of time travelling, with very little time to actually explore Olympic National Park. The ferry ride is enjoyable, but once you reach Bainbridge Island and travel onwards to Port Angeles, the long drives begin. It takes several hours to reach Hurricane Ridge, and by the time you get there, the sightseeing feels rushed. The pattern throughout the tour is essentially: get off the bus, start walking, complete the trail or loop, and get back on the bus. You barely get the opportunity to stop, admire the scenery, take photographs, or explore independently. Hurricane Ridge and Crater Lake are beautiful, and Sol Duc has lovely trails. We did two trails at Sol Duc, but overall, the number of places you get to explore feels very limited compared to the amount of time spent travelling. The bus was really uncomfortable. The seats felt old, and there were no armrests between neighbouring seats, making it difficult to sit comfortably for such a long journey. The driving also felt very rash, with the bus swaying from side to side. The frequent jolts made the journey even more uncomfortable and exhausting. I understand that Olympic National Park is vast and that long drives are unavoidable. However, the uncomfortable seating, rough roads, and rushed sightseeing made this an exhausting experience. A word of caution for anyone with back problems: The prolonged sitting, uncomfortable bus, frequent jolts, and continuous walking can be particularly difficult. The scenery is beautiful, but I wish the tour allowed more time to enjoy it at a relaxed pace rather than rushing from one stop to another.

The day tour from Seattle was amazing. Our guide, Joel, was so very genuine and friendly which was a large part of what made the experience so great. His narrative and knowledge of the area were very much appreciated. Would highly recommend the tour and are looking to book another to Mt Rainier on our next trip here!
