Gorgeous scenery and superb food await in this lovely town, only 20km west of Zagreb, which makes locals flock here every weekend. Samobor is, above all, noted for its gastronomic specialities, most famous of which is the samoborska kremšnita cream cake, taken with coffee or after lunch followed by a small glass of sweet and sour liqueur Bermet. Traditional meal typical for the region – Muštarda – made with mustard seeds, must and spice, may accompany boiled beef, chicken or sausages, Rudarska greblica – is a pie made of cottage cheese, eggs and walnuts, Pates, Štrukli, Stuffed veal breasts, pork and trout are the recommendations here.
