For the best chance of seeing the aurora, we sail away from Reykjavík’s artificial lights, seeking the darkest, clearest skies. However, as the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, they don’t appear every night—so patience and a touch of luck are key!

My wife, adult daughter and I booked this tour with “Your Friend in Reykjavik” through Viator the during the afternoon we arrived in Iceland. Our tour guide, Cristin, was excellent. She met the group at the designated meeting location ahead of schedule. She was very friendly and informative about everything Reykjavik. Iceland is a fascinating place with so much history, and she did a great job of bringing it to life. We would definitely recommend this tour and guide to anyone new to the city.

The local food tour was amazing. We had a goupt of 9 of us and a few others along. Our guide Palli was very informative, helpful, attentive, and so much fun to have lead us through Reykjavik. A great was to kick off our vacation. The food stops were all great. Lots of fish and lamb and stews and sweets.
