In small groups of 6-8 people per vehicle, you’ll explore a “Mitato” shepherd’s hut and immerse yourself in the local way of life. 
Our journey starts in Rethymnon, heading southeast toward Milopotamos, passing through lush landscapes with fresh aromas and stunning views. We’ll visit the historic Halepa Monastery, which once sheltered Cretan rebels during civil wars.
Next, we’ll venture off-road toward the Mitato. At the shepherd’s hut, you’ll learn about the shepherd’s lifestyle and the art of cheese-making.
We’ll conclude our adventure with a delicious lunch at a traditional tavern in Axos village, where you’ll enjoy local food and wine, along with genuine Cretan hospitality. After lunch, take some time to relax with a coffee before we head back to Rethymnon.

Starting from Rethymnon, we’ll travel southeast, passing through the charming village of Milopotamos and areas with lush vegetation, vibrant aromas, and panoramic views. Along the way, we’ll stop at the historic Halepa Monastery, once a refuge for Cretan rebels during civil wars. The monastery’s stunning views of the mountain peaks and valley are perfect for photos.

Our off-road adventure continues toward a traditional shepherd's hut, or “Mitato,” where the rugged terrain offers awe-inspiring panoramic views. Keep your camera ready for a chance to spot wild goats or eagles soaring above. At the Mitato, you'll learn about the shepherd’s way of life and the art of cheese-making, gaining insight into Crete’s agricultural traditions.

Afterward, we’ll head to a traditional tavern in Axos village for a delicious introduction to Cretan cuisine, accompanied by local wine and the warmth of Cretan hospitality. You’ll have time to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee before we make our way back to Rethymnon along a scenic road. This is an unforgettable way to experience the heart of Crete!
